Engineering Geological Characterisation
Geo-Design are leaders in the development of geological models and characterisation of rock masses for engineering purposes, a fundamental step in our design and analysis approach.
For large scale surface and underground construction projects, emphasis and reliance is placed on establishing a comprehensive geological and hydrogeological model of the rock mass conditions. This incudes understanding the intact rock properties, the rock mass structure, the engineering behaviour of the rock mass at in-situ stress conditions, and the implications of the proposed structure on that behaviour.
- Investigation
Design, specification and interpretion of ground investigation and laboratory testing data and development of investigation strategies for major infrastructure, mining and energy projects. - Characterisation
Interpretation of investigation data to fully characterise the ground conditions is central to the engineering geological and hydrogeological expertise within our practice. - Rock Mass Models
Reliable rock mass models are an essential basis for design and subsequent design implementation during construction. Invariably the rock mass model will form the central role to the technical issues. - Risk Mitigation
We use our expertly derived ground models and characterisation to assist planning and risk management in relation to the occurrence of poor ground conditions, adverse stress, groundwater pressures, water inflows, rock abrasivity and uncertainty in the foreseen conditions.
