Brisbane Airport Link
Australia

The AU$4.8B Brisbane Airport Link project included construction of 12.6km of tunnels with large span openings at the multilane on and off ramps.

Geo-Design were commissioned by the JV to review designs of the large span underground excavations in bedded rock.

Sector: Civil infrastructure – transport tunnels and caverns.

  • Ground support assessment
Independent evaluation of tunnel support and stability, of wide spans with very shallow cover in a weak volcanic sedimentary sequence.
  • Risk reduction
Proposals for design modifications to reduce construction risk.
  • Geological modelling
Development of detailed geological models and rock mass models.
  • Numerical modelling
Stability assessments through continuum and discontinuum numerical analysis.
