Robert MacKean B.Sc, M.Sc, C.Geol, C.Eng, FGS, MIMMM, MAE

Robert is an established practitioner and experienced expert witness with more than 30 years’ international experience in the construction industry with a focus on rock and tunnel engineering and geological risk evaluation. He is an experienced Lead Designer on long tunnel projects and cavern schemes including detailed designs and design checks for spans in excess of 30m in a variety of geological environments.

As a recognised specialist he has been called upon to undertake forensic investigation of civil engineering failures including root cause analysis of failures in tunnels for hydroelectric power generation schemes and construction difficulties involving geology and groundwater.  Robert has also provided expert and advisory services for contractual disputes, conducted appraisals of foreseeability, GBR evaluation and implementation of ground risk sharing schemes during construction.  He has given expert opinion at public enquiries, arbitrations, mediations and the High Court in the UK, Middle East, Africa, Asia and Europe and has acted on Dispute Resolution Panels.
