CLIENT : GIFFORD (RAMBOLL GROUP)
Geo-Design were involved in the Forth Replacement Crossing (FRC) project, concerned with the construction of the new bridge (the Queensferry Crossing) which was to become the primary route across the Firth of Forth. The Queensferry Crossing is a three tower, cable-stayed bridge structure which spans 2.7km over the Firth of Forth.
Geo-Design undertook a peer review of the design concept for the proposed Central Tower Foundation on Beamer Rock – an isolated rocky outcrop which comprises a jointed quartz dolerite sill overlying a sequence of sandstones, siltstones and mudstones interbedded with volcanic tuff. Geo-Design also made recommendations for the geological model development and the detailed design approach for this site.
