Former Quarry, Worcestershire (UK)

Geo-Design undertook geological mapping, site investigation, rock fall and stability assessments and developed a concept design for rock fall mitigation and slope stabilisation measures for a site in Worcestershire.

The residential development had been built in a former quarry and though some rock netting had been installed over a portion of the slope, as part of the housing development, the properties were also adjacent to un-engineered quarried rock slopes.

A significant rock fall occurred comprising rock that detached from the upper exposed rock face, impacting the rear of the properties.  Geo-Design were commissioned to undertake an assessment of the slope condition and stability and to make recommendations on measures to enhance the long-term stability.
