York Potash Tunnel

York Potash (now called Woodsmith Mine) is a polyhalite mine being developed in the Northeast of England by Anglo American. A 37km long tunnel was proposed to transport mined polyhalite, via conveyor, to the mineral handling facility on Teesside.

Geo-Design were appointed by a tendering contractor to update the geological model of the alignment, through variably weathered mudstones.

    Review of structural geology and stratigraphical subdivision of units to evaluate rock mass conditions for tunnelling.
  • Rock mass modelling
    Detailed models developed for a range of rock mass conditions and categories, including implications and risks for tunnelling.
