Robert is a chartered engineer and chartered geologist with over three decades of international experience specialising in the geological characterisation and design of rock engineering solutions for major infrastructure projects. Robert is a technical leader, with expertise underpinned by a deep understanding of ground behaviour and geomechanics. Robert’s commitment to practical, data-driven engineering geology has made him a trusted advisor on technically demanding schemes across the UK, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Australia and Asia. He has been appointed as an Expert Witness on high profile disputes, criminal cases and insurance claims on more than 30 occasions, has acted as a Dispute Panel Member and as Technical Adjudicator.

Mike is a chartered geologist specialising in the engineering geological and hydrogeological characterisation of rock masses and their significance to rock engineering projects. Mike has extensive experience in the development of rock mass models providing the basis for design of engineering measures for slopes, tunnels, shafts and caverns for a range of applications. Mike has designed underground spaces using both empirical and numerical methods, including the interpretation of complex state-of-the-art numerical analyses.

James is a chartered geologist and rock mechanics specialist with a strong academic and consultancy background in complex underground rock engineering projects. James’ expertise spans ground investigation, geological characterisation and numerical modelling. James’ work integrates empirical, analytical and advanced numerical design methods to assess rock mass behaviour. James is internationally recognised and represents the UK on the working group for the first series of international standards (ISO) for laboratory rock testing.

Lily is a Chartered Engineering Geologist with experience on major civil engineering and tunnelling projects across the UK, Middle East, Africa and Hong Kong. She specialises in development of geological models for rock masses and their engineering characterisation, particularly for underground excavations, slopes, and tunnel alignments. Lily is skilled in rock mass logging using systems such as Q and RMR and is experienced in site investigation planning and interpretation. She also supports expert witness projects, analysing data, developing geological interpretations, and critically evaluating evidence to support forensic assessments.

Lucy is an Engineering Geologist who specialises in the geological and engineering characterisation of soil and rock, with a focus on underground excavations and rock slopes. Lucy has extensive experience working with geospatial data, including large point clouds in GIS, and uses 3D CAD to develop and present geological and rock mass models that support complex engineering decisions. Lucy has contributed to civil engineering projects in the UK, Middle East, South Africa, and Hong Kong, as well as geo-environmental and geotechnical studies in the UK.

Elias is an established specialist in the engineering analysis of geotechnical and civil engineering structures. Elias has significant experience in state-of-the-art numerical modelling of geotechnical problems in rock and has played a key role in design of many large-scale underground projects and high rock slopes.

Elias has practical experience and expertise in the specification, execution and interpretation of laboratory testing of rock materials and discontinuities.

Michail is a specialist in the use of advanced numerical simulation software for the analysis of rock engineering projects. Michail has analysed caverns, tunnels and high rock slopes, all in a variety of rock masses including weak and bedded sequences. Michail is an experienced user of UDEC, 3DEC and FLAC. In addition, Michail is currently completing PhD studies in experimental and numerical rock mechanics with applications for civil infrastructure rock engineering projects.

Kostas is an established specialist in the structural analysis and evaluation of surface and underground civil engineering structures with particular focus on concrete linings for tunnels and a PhD titled ‘Interaction between concrete linings and rock mass in underground openings: contribution to the design of temporary and permanent tunnel linings’. Kostas has worked on both feasibility studies and detailed designs of lining systems for underground facilities. In addition, Kostas has considerable experience of the analysis and design of structures to resist seismic loading.

Steve is an Engineering Geologist / Geomorphologist. Steve has over 35 years’ experience, having worked on projects in the UK, South Africa, the Middle East and the Asia-Pacific. He is a member of the IAEG Commission C25 on Engineering Geological Models and was a technical reviewer of the Hong Kong Government publication “Engineering Geological Practice in Hong Kong”. Steve specialises in the assessment of landslide hazard and risk, using both qualitative and quantatative assessments. Steve has also been an Expert Witness for the impact of landslides on infrastructure.

Nick specialises in the field of geology and its impact on the built environment from the investigation, design and construction phases of a project through to serviceability. His particular expertise, understanding the often-complex relationship between the built environment and geology, have been advanced and developed over many years of both practical and academic work. Nick has been employed as a technical expert for projects ranging from geological hazards affecting highways, foundation design, and debris flow mitigation schemes. Nick is also working on a number of funded research projects concerning the engineering behavior of rock and fracture mechanics.
