Geo-Design worked as part of a small team on an early study for the feasibility of unlined caverns in rock providing gas storage to augment diurnal storage requirements. Geological siting potential of host lithologies was recognised as a key siting consideration.

Geo-Design provided specialist geological and cavern engineering input, with classifications of potential host geologies studied and their distribution mapped across the UK. Conceptual models are characteristics of candidate rock masses were prepared.
