The Express Rail Link (XRL) in Hong Kong is a 26km long stretch of high-speed rail which links Hong Kong to mainland China, connecting Kowloon to the high-speed rail network of China in Shenzhen. The terminus in Hong Kong is situated in Kowloon covering an area of 25 acres.
Geo-Design provided specialist tender assistance with rock engineering issues for the up to 30m deep excavation for the West Kowloon Terminus. This included analysing issues such as D-wall founding conditions, stability of highly loaded vertical rock cuts, groundwater inflow control and excavatability.
