C810 – Express Rail Link – West Kowloon Terminus (Hong Kong)

CLIENT: Laing O’Rourke – Hsin Chong – Paul Y (Joint Venture)

The Express Rail Link (XRL) in Hong Kong is a 26km long stretch of high-speed rail which links Hong Kong to mainland China, connecting Kowloon to the high-speed rail network of China in Shenzhen. The terminus in Hong Kong is situated in Kowloon covering an area of 25 acres.

Geo-Design provided specialist tender assistance with rock engineering issues for the up to 30m deep excavation for the West Kowloon Terminus. This included analysing issues such as D-wall founding conditions, stability of highly loaded vertical rock cuts, groundwater inflow control and excavatability.

Geo Design were involved in other areas of the XRL construction. For further information, please see: Express Rail Link (Hong Kong)
